Can my family’s income be too
little or too much for my children to qualify for CHIP?
A family of four may qualify for CHIP if their income is more
than $20,000 but less than $40,000.
How much does
CHIP coverage cost?
Your family will pay no more than $50 a year. Some
families pay nothing.
Are there
co-payments for visits to the doctor? How much? What other
services require a co-payment?
Depending on your income you may have co-payments for some
services such as prescription drugs and visits to the doctor or
emergency room. Co-payments range from $3 to $10 for doctor
office visits.
What are

Benefits and services include:
- Well checkups and immunizations
- Visits to specialists
- X-rays and lab tests
- Prescription drugs
- Hospital care

What is
the difference between Medicaid and CHIP?
A family’s total income determines whether their children are
eligible for CHIP or Medicaid coverage. For example, a family of
four with income totally more than $20,000 may be eligible for
CHIP. A family of four with income totally less than $20,000
may be eligible for Medicaid.
