Texas Children’s Health Plan Appoints Dr. Karen Hill as New Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

HOUSTON (Feb. 2, 2022) — Texas Children’s Health Plan, the nation's first health maintenance organization (HMO) created just for children, today announced the appointment of Dr. Karen Hill as its new Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) effective immediately.

 
A seasoned healthcare executive and board-certified Internal Medicine and Pediatrics licensed medical doctor (M.D.), Hill will lead an NCQA-accredited Medicaid plan and the state’s top-rated HMO in Patient Experience, committed to providing its members with dependable health coverage and delivering top-quality patient care.

In her new role, Hill will lead clinical and quality initiatives that further position the organization as a leader in patient experience and quality health coverage. She is positioned to support efforts that further drive health equity and expand access to top quality care for vulnerable and medically underserved communities.

Hill received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1992 and went on to complete her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1996. She furthered her education at the University of Houston Bauer College of Business where she obtained a Master of Business Administration in 2007.
 
Hill has more than 25 years of industry and academic experience, beginning with a five-year tenure at Amerigroup as an Associate Medical Director. Following, she held positions at Cigna as a Senior Medical Director for three years and Community Health Choice as a SVP and CMO of Med Affairs for an additional three years, as well as CMO for RediClinic. For more than 14 years, Hill was in private practice as an internal medicine and pediatrics medical doctor and most recently served as Corporate SVP of Programs and Product Management for HealthHelp, a WNS company.
 
Hill is an active member of multiple professional organizations focused on supporting women executive leaders including Chief, IGNITE, and The Links, Incorporated. She is also a member of the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Medical Forum.
