Removal of Over-the-Counter Products from CHIP Formulary

Effective date: August 26, 2026

Call to action: Texas Children's Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform providers that effective August 26, 2026, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) removed several over-the-counter drugs that were added to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) formulary in error. A list of the National Drug Codes (NDCs) that are affected is available from the Texas Vendor Drug Program website.

Next step for providers: Providers should share this information with their staff.
