Call to action: The purpose of this communication is to inform prescribers of an important survey for the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) that is due May 30, 2025. This year's survey covers data from federal fiscal year 2024 (October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024).
How this impacts providers: All prescribing providers must complete this survey. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will collect and analyze the responses, which will then be reported to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS requires Medicaid to report data on prescribing providers' use of the CMS PMP before they prescribe controlled substances. Texas Medicaid gathers this information from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy but does not have access to the PMP data.
