Vaxelis Vaccine Series to Become Available for Texas Medicaid

Date: June 30, 2021 Attention: Primary Care Providers Effective Date: July 1, 2021Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated to the COVID-19 event.  TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event. Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform providers of a new vaccine available for Medicaid Members. How this impacts providers: Vaxelis, a three-dose vaccine series for children ages six weeks through four years, was made available and will be distributed free of charge through the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC) beginning on May 3, 2021. This vaccine contains six components to prevent disease from diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b. Beginning July 1, 2021, vaccine procedure code 90697 (Vaxelis) will become available for Medicaid Members. Procedure code 90697 is informational only for Medicaid as it is intended to allow for the reimbursement of an accompanying vaccine administration procedure code (90460 or 90471).
