If you are Texas Children’s Health Plan Member, we have tips that can help you deal with the severe weather. If you have a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 for help.

    Member Services 

    Our team is here to assist our diverse member community by offering services and tools that are customized to meet your needs, such as

    • Oral interpretation (over the phone and face to face) and written translations assistance. Sign language available.
    • Information in formats such as print, Braille, audiotapes or accessible electronic.
    • Access to TTY/TDD services for hearing and speech impairment

    We are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. After hours, on weekends and holidays, you can leave a message in our answering services and a Member Services Advocate will return your call the next business day.

    Provider Services Hotline 

    Providers can use this number for claims, inquiry, questions and information about CHIP, STAR, or STAR Kids products and to check eligibility/benefits.

    Telephone TouCHPoint 

    Texas Children’s Health Plan’s automated Telephone TouCHPoint system allows Texas Children’s Health Plan providers to check eligibility, benefits, and claims status after hours. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Hotline

    Call our Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Hotline at 800-731-8529 to find out how to get services.  

    The line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No primary care provider referral is needed.  

    The hotline is staffed with individuals who speak English and Spanish. Interpreters who speak 140 different languages are also ready by phone.  

    If you have an emergency and need treatment immediately, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.

    STAR Kids members can reach their service coordinator 800-659-5764.

    24-Hour Nurse Help Line 

    Are you or your child not feeling well? Our registered nurses can offer you advice with symptoms and help to decide the most appropriate place for care, understand doctor’s instructions and with recommendations for treatment.

    State Fair Hearing  

    A State Fair Hearing is a chance for you tell the reasons why you think the services you asked for and couldn’t get should be allowed. To ask for a State Fair Hearing, you or your representative should either send a letter to the health plan or call:

     External Medical Review  

    If you disagree with the health plan’s internal appeal decision, you as the member have the right to ask for an External Medical Review. An External Medical Review is an optional, extra step the Member can take to get the case reviewed before the State Fair Hearing occurs.
