CHIP Perinatal Members Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine

Date: December 20, 2021 Attention: All Providers Effective Date: December 11, 2021Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated to the COVID-19 event.  TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event. Call to action: Effective December 11, 2020, CHIP Perinate members enrolled in CHIP Perinatal services are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The CHIP Perinatal (CHIP-P) Program serves the CHIP perinate, including providing services to the pregnant woman if those services are for the direct benefit of the perinate. Recent studies have shown that the COVID-19 vaccination is safe for pregnant women, and vaccinating the pregnant woman has a benefit for the perinate. How this impacts providers: The COVID-19 vaccine for CHIP Perinate members includes the following procedure codes: 0001A, 0002A, 0011A, 0012A, 0031A. Providers will only be reimbursed for the vaccine administration. The vaccine is provided to them free of charge, so those codes (91300, 91301, and 91303) will process as informational only. More information about the codes can be found on the American Medical Association’s website: https://www.ama-assn.org/find-covid-19-vaccine-codes. Next steps for providers: Providers should share this in formation with their staff. If you have any questions, please email Provider Network Management at: providerrelations@texaschildrens.org.For access to all provider alerts, log into: www.thecheckup.org or www.texaschildrenshealthplan.org/for-providers.
