Provider Information – Patient’s Medicaid Coverage may be Impacted by the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency
Date: June 23, 2022Attention: All Providers Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated with the COVID-19 event. TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event.Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to provide you an update in regards to member’s Medicaid coverage and the upcoming conclusion of the public health emergency (PHE).
The federal government declared a PHE on Jan. 27, 2020, and Congress later passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which required states to continue coverage through the end of the PHE for Medicaid recipients who otherwise would have lost Medicaid eligibility to qualify for enhanced federal matching funds.
How this impacts providers: Though the timing is unknown, the federal government may soon allow states to discontinue coverage of Medicaid recipients who have sustained coverage due to the PHE. Medicaid clients should ensure their information with the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is accurate so they get important updates about their coverage.
TCHP will be providing member communication regarding their Medicaid coverage to ensure their preparedness for the end of the PHE.
Next steps for providers: Review and share the Provider Information Sheet - Your Patient’s Medicaid Coverage May be Impacted by the End of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency with your patients.
