Reminder to include the INVOICE when Billing for Nutritional Products
Date: April 10, 2025
Attention: Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Home Health Providers
Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to remind Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Home Health Providers of the guidance provided by TMHP when billing for nutritional products. Providers must conduct the following actions:
Retain all orders; copies of completed, signed, and dated Title XIX forms; delivery slips; and corresponding invoices for all supplies provided to a client. Durable medical equipment providers must disclose these records to Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) or its designee on request.
To clarify, the INVOICE TCHP is referring to in this alert is not the MSRP pricing or the invoice the providers use to charge the MCO and/or the public. TCHP considers an invoice as the document/bill received by the provider from their supplier and that most commonly represents the provider’s supply cost. For a provider’s claim to successfully process, this invoice should be attached to the claim when submitted. Alternatively, the provider can upload their missing documents upon appealing the claim via the provider portal, Texas Children’s®Link.
