Discontinuation of Kangaroo ePump and Kangaroo Joey Enteral Feeding Pumps

Date: September 20, 2024
Attention: Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Providers
Effective date for short term rentals: September 12, 2024

Background information: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform network providers of the discontinuation of the Kangaroo ePump and Kangaroo Joey enteral feeding pumps. Cardinal Health, the manufacturer of the products, is experiencing global supply chain challenges, including ageing componentry and discontinued materials, which has affected the ability to sustain manufacturing the products.

Per Cardinal Health, the Kangaroo ePump feeding sets and accessories anticipated end of supply date is June 30, 2025, and the Kangaroo Joey feeding sets and accessories anticipated end of supply date is September 30, 2027.

For more information on the discontinuation schedule, please refer to the update from Cardinal Health.

How this impacts providers: To minimize the potential disruption this situation may cause your patients, our members, in obtaining pumps and accessories during the current supply chain issues, TCHP will approve short term rentals of alternate pumps for three months, effective September 12, 2024.

The procedure code for enteral nutrition infusion pump, any type, is B9002.

Next step for providers: TCHP is committed to supporting providers and members navigate this discontinuation and will provide updates. For questions, please contact your assigned Provider Relations Liaison (PRL).
