Texas Children's Health Plan Earns NCQA Rating

Houston - The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded Texas Children's Health Plan Interim Accreditation. NCQA Health Plan Accreditation evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system-physicians, hospitals, other providers and administrative services -in order to continuously improve the quality of care and services provided to its members.

"We at Texas Children's Health Plan are very proud to receive the NCQA Interim Accreditation.  We take pride in providing our members top quality service and care and work hard to maintain the qualities and standards worthy of receiving a NCQA rating," stated Christopher Born, president of Texas Children's Health Plan.

Health Plan Accreditation performance results are publicly reported in five categories,  access and service, qualified providers, staying healthy, getting better and living with illness.  The standards are intended to help organization achieve the highest level of performance possible and create an environment of continuous improvement.  NCQA Health Plan Accreditation surveys include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluations of over 60 standards and selected HEDIS measures.  A team of physicians and health plan experts conducts accreditation surveys. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team's findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance of each plan being evaluated to NCQA's standards.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performances. NCQA is committed to providing health care quality information for consumers, purchasers, health care providers and researchers.
