Call to action: The Health and Human Services Commission’s (HHSC) Behavioral Health Advisory Committee has approved the development of a Housing Choice Plan for individuals with mental health conditions, substance use histories and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. HHSC is requesting input on a survey designed to collect client and stakeholder input for this plan. Survey participants include the following: individuals who qualify for the housing, families, caregivers, providers, service agencies, and organizations.
How this impacts providers: HHSC seeks participation in the survey as it aims to collect information on the housing needs of people with mental health conditions, substance use histories and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Answers to the survey will help HHSC understand the need for housing and housing support across the state and make plans for the future. Responses to the survey are anonymous and confidential. Answers will be combined and summarized with the responses of all survey participants. Answers will not change an individual’s ability to receive or provide services.
Next steps for providers: Providers are encouraged to take the survey; it is available here at
Housing Choice Survey from May 15, 2020 until June 15, 2020.
