Transportation Update Actualización de transporte

Starting December 15, 2025, SafeRide Health will become the new provider for all member rides to doctor appointments and pharmacy visits. After this date, Texas Children’s Health Plan will no longer use MTM for Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services.

New Member Transportation Vendor Coming soon

Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform providers that our former Member medical transportation provider, Medical Transportation Management (MTM) will transition to Safe Ride Health on December 15, 2025. Safe Ride Health will operate both Non-Emergent Medical Transportation (NEMT) and Value Added Services (VAS) rides for Members. Transition dates and contact information:

  • The current vendor, MTM will continue taking calls through December 14, 2025 at their contact number, 1-888-401-0170 for rides to occur December 1 – 14.
  • Beginning December 1, 2025, you will schedule rides with Safe Ride Health to prepare for appointments December 15, 2025 and after. Members or your staff will call number 1-888-583-0110 (TTY). This line will be available Monday–Saturday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (CST).

The process for members to schedule a ride are as follows:

1. Member will need to call 1-888-583-0110 starting on December 1 for appointments beginning December 15 to request a ride.

2. Members will need to provide:

  • Name, Member ID, Date of Birth, and/ or eligibility address to verify eligibility of service
  • Logistics of trip (will they have a guardian/attendant, language needs, do they need a wheelchair accessible ride, etc.)
  • Members scheduling transportation for health-related services within their Service Area will need to schedule rides with a two-business day notice. For members looking to go outside of that service area, they must give at least a five-business day notice.
    • Note this constraint does not apply if members need access to treatment for an “urgent condition” such as getting home after a hospital discharge, or going to the pharmacy.
