Transportation UpdateActualización de transporte
SafeRide Health (SRH) is the new provider for all NEMT rides to doctor appointments and pharmacy visits.
Depending on your needs, rides may include wheelchair-lift-equipped vehicles, stretcher vans, minivans, or ambulatory vans. Please let SRH know what type of ride you need when scheduling.
Texas Children’s Health Plan is partnered with SafeRide Health (SRH) to provide our members with transportation services at no cost to a doctor’s appointment, a dental visit and/or the pharmacy. In addition, members, or their friends and family, can be reimbursed for mileage when driving to a Medicaid-covered appointment.
Important to note:
You need to be approved by SRH and Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) before you can get reimbursed for driving to a doctor’s appointment, dental visit and/or the pharmacy. This process will take approximately three weeks.
To be reimbursed, you must submit all required documents to ensure timely approval and payment.
Follow these steps to be reimbursed:
Submit Driver and Vehicle Information to SRH
Each driver (either the member themselves or a friend or family member) must submit an Individual Transportation Participant (ITP) Registration Form in order to be eligible. You may also call SRH at 888-583-0110 and ask to have this form mailed to you. Missing documents or incorrect information can delay your approval.
Fill out the ITP Registration Form and attach the following documents*:
Copy of current and valid driver’s license.
Copy of current and valid auto insurance card.
Copy of vehicle registration.
Then, submit the completed form to SRH by email, fax, or mail:
*ITPs must maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and registration at all times to remain eligible for the program.
Get Approved by SRH and HHSC
Once you have submitted your driver documents to SRH:
SRH will review the information within 10 business days. (If you do not hear from them after that time, call them at 888-583-0110.)
If SRH approves your information, they will then send it on to HHSC for review. HHSC will then review your information and give final approval with approximately one week.
If SRH does not approve your information, they will not notify you. Check the status of your application on the SRH Mobile Link app or call them at 888-583-0110.
Provider Signature during Visit
On the day or your doctor’s appointment, dental visit, or trip to the pharmacy, you must have the provider sign the Mileage Reimbursement Form.
Trips without a signature will not be reimbursed. Each trip will need to be confirmed with the medical provider before the driver is paid.
Submit the Mileage Reimbursement Form.
You must submit the Mileage Reimbursement Form to SRH within 30 days of your trip. If you have parking or toll receipts from your trip, you should also include these with the form. You can submit the form by:
PLEASE NOTE: SRH will not notify you if your Mileage Reimbursement Form has been approved or denied. You will need to check the status of this form on the SRH app or by calling SRH at 888-583-0110.
Payments are issued only after approval and are processed within 10-14 business days depending on method of payment:
Direct deposit.
Check (issued via mail).
Debit card.
Drivers will be paid $0.70 per mile, round trip. Drivers will only get one payment per trip, even if they drive multiple people on the same trip.
Incorrect bank information, expired forms, or handwritten corrections on a form will delay your payment.
Common mistakes to avoid:
Scheduling an appointment before you have been approved by both SRH and HHSC to be a driver.
Using outdated or expired documents (driver’s license, vehicle registration, etc.) in your ITP Registration Form.
Leaving required fields blank on forms.
Making corrections or strikeouts on forms. (Including the use of correction fluid.)
Using nicknames that do not match your driver’s license and/or bank account information.
Forgetting to submit proof of driver and vehicle information with the ITP Registration Form.
Call SRH at 888-583-0110 Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. Or, call Member Services at the phone number found on the back of your Member ID Card.
