Genetic Lab Testing Available at Quest Diagnostics

Date: July 13, 2026

Attention: Providers

Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to remind providers that genetic testing capabilities are available at Quest Diagnostics.

To find a location: https://www.questdiagnostics.com/locations/search

Health Professionals link to Quanum® Lab Services Manager

How this impacts providers: Genetic Testing Requirements

  • Prior authorization is required for all genetic testing, except:
    • Cystic Fibrosis Screening
    • Spinal Muscular Atrophy Screening
  • This applies even when testing is done by an in-network lab such as Quest Diagnostics.
  • Prior authorization requests: In-network providers should access Texas Children’s® Link, provider portal to complete the necessary steps.

Next step for Providers: Providers should share this communication with their staff.

Previously published TCHP communication on this topic can be found here.
