Prenatal Vitamin 90-Day Supply List Update

Date: August 1, 2025

Attention: Providers

Effective date: September 1, 2025

Call to action: Effective September 1, 2025, Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) is updating its list of prenatal vitamins eligible for a 90-day supply.

To promote consistency in care and support medication adherence, select prenatal vitamins will be available for 90-day dispensing for STAR and CHIP pregnant members. All other prenatal vitamins covered on the formulary are subject to the typical 30-day supply.

How this impacts providers:

Providers are encouraged to prescribe from the updated list of prenatal vitamins eligible for 90-day supply when clinically appropriate, as reducing pharmacy visits may improve member adherence.

Please ensure prescriptions for these eligible vitamins are written explicitly for a 90-day supply.

Prenatal Vitamins Eligible for 90-Day Supply (Effective 9/1/2025):

  • Trinatal RX Tab 1
  • Complete NAT Pak DHA
  • Prenatal Tab 27-1mg
  • Thrivite RX Tab 29-1mg
  • M-Natal Plus Tab
  • Tricare Tab Prenatal
  • Westab Plus Tab 27-1mg only

Next step for Providers: Prescribers are encouraged to proactively transition members to a product from the approved 90-day list, and to write prescriptions accordingly. Please share this communication with your clinic staff.
