Here is how you can check the status of your application:
Once you’ve been approved, choose a health plan and doctor!
After you’ve been approved, you’ll get a notice by mail or through the Your Texas Benefits account. Then you can call 1-800-964-2777 to choose a health plan and add your Primary Care Physician (PCP) and/or Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN). You can also find doctors in our network through our “Find a Doctor” tool.
Get coverage after delivery.
It’s important that you and your newborn have coverage after delivery in case the unexpected happens. Here are some options:
If you are covered by Medicaid:
You will have 12 months of coverage after you deliver your baby. Click here to download a PDF from HHSC with more information. (Click here to view the STAR Medicaid benefits we provider our pregnant members.)
Your newborn will be automatically covered by your same plan for 90 days, unless you request a change.
After your 12 months of overage is over, you can get extra health care support by enrolling in the Healthy Texas Women program. Click here for more information.
If you are covered by CHIP-P:
You will get two covered postpartum visits within 60 days of the end of your pregnancy.
Your newborn will have 12 months of coverage, but you will need to report the birth of your baby and select a health plan. Click here to visit our webpage that outlines this process.
